CHOOSING HOSTING

Web hosting vs VPS: how to choose for your project

Compare web hosting and a Linux VPS by software, resources, server access and maintenance. Choose the hosting type that fits your website or application.

Start with the software you need to run

Web hosting is a service for publishing websites within the environment defined by a plan. A VPS is a virtual server with an operating system to configure for your applications. The right choice depends on the software you need and the administration work you can take on.

List your runtime, database, scheduled tasks and any background processes. A portfolio or PHP website may fit a Web plan. A WordPress site or WooCommerce store can use the WordPress range. A custom application or several containers may need a Linux VPS. Check the actual offer rather than assuming every hosting plan supports the same software.

Compare resources and limits for the whole project

For website hosting, compare the site allowance and storage against your files, media, databases and expected growth. For a VPS, include the operating system and every running service when considering vCPU, RAM, storage and transfer. A large disk cannot compensate for insufficient memory.

Use measurements from an existing project where available. Site counts and resource specifications do not establish a visitor capacity or guarantee a particular speed. Check the region and any operating limits in the selected offer; do not assume an unpublished location or allowance.

Decide who will maintain the environment

Before choosing a VPS, decide who will handle SSH access, operating-system updates, firewall rules, application maintenance and recovery. Check which tasks the service includes and which remain yours. A selectable control panel or deployment profile describes a setup choice; it does not establish an ongoing managed-service agreement.

For any hosting type, plan application updates and recoverable backups. Extra storage and backup options are separate choices in the configurator. Check their description and price in the order summary, and retain an independent copy of important data. A backup you have never restored is not a tested recovery plan.

Match the hosting family to your use case

For a business website or portfolio, start with the Web range and check its PHP and database requirements. For a blog, WordPress business site or WooCommerce store, compare the WordPress plans, plugin requirements and storage needs. Several websites may benefit from a larger Web, WordPress or Cloud plan without requiring a separate server for each one.

For containers or software needing a particular Linux environment, compare the VPS plans and compatible setup choices. Review the VPS sizing guide and Docker preparation guide before selecting a configuration. Greater server control also adds decisions about access, updates and recovery; it is not an automatic performance upgrade.

Check the complete order before paying

Write down your software requirements, site count, storage needs, administration owner and recovery plan. Compare those requirements with the visible plan and its available options. The configurator shows the period total and any selected extras before payment. All services have a three-month minimum; the available terms are three, six or twelve months.

Crypto payment is available across the hosting families. Select an available asset and network, then follow the exact invoice instructions. Sending a payment, confirming it and activating the hosting are separate stages. Renewal uses a new crypto invoice rather than an automatic debit. Choose the service for its fit with your project, then choose the payment method.
